Spotted Box

This dome top document box naively decorated with black spots on a brown ground is an excellent example of ethnic traditions in Eastern Ontario. Found near Barry’s Bay, not far from the Polish settlements near Wilno in Renfrew County, this box incorporates certain Rococo influences in its decorative elements that may also be found in vernacular Germanic furnishings.
