Folky Cat

Circa 1900, Quebec

A great piece of early folk art, the carved cat has wonderful expression and detail including glass bead eyes and original tabby markings in a yellow ochre paint. Base is stippled and the colour of the marbles is optional (a carved depression to hold the marbles is part of the original conception). Carved in one piece of birch.
